32 Weeks

It has been an eventful week to say the least.  I went to my normal Dr. visit last Wednesday and thought the only thing that was going to happen was getting my blood pressure checked and weighed!   Oh Boy was i wrong!  When Dr. Norton was measuring my belly she noticed i was having a contraction and asked me how often that has been happening.  I had called the week before because i was having them and they thought they were just Braxton Hicks contractions.  So she hooked me up to the monitor and sure enough i was having contractions and quite a bit about 3 minutes apart!  She then checked me and sent me to the hospital.  I ended up having to get 2 injections of Terbutaline to stop contractions (which by the way OUCH)  the first injection did not work at all and they had to wait to give me the second injection because my heart rate was too fast. It took a while for the second one to work but it did, praise the Lord!  After the contractions simmered down the next thing i knew i was getting dressed and sent on my way with antibiotics for a UTI and a prescription for Terbutaline to take every 4 hours.  I was put on bed rest until my appt. on Tuesday.  Over Christmas my hubby waited on my every need he was absolutely wonderful and we have a great Christmas at the house! I was still having contractions even though i was taking the meds.  So i went back to the Dr. on Tuesday and she seems to think that Austin will be here within a few weeks (i still have 55 days till my due date)  We are praying he stays put until 34 weeks so he can be delivered in Beaufort and that way his lungs can develop a little more, but we would be VERY happy if he made it to the 37 week mark!  I am still on bed rest but she is allowing me to go into work for a few hours here and there and do some work from home.

Clay and I are both scared out of our mind but the Dr. keeps telling us that he is going to be just fine.  Needless to say God never gives you more than you can handle and we will continue to trust in his plan!  I go back to the Dr. on Tuesday and will update on little Austin after  that!  Thank you to everyone who has been praying for us!

30 weeks

I am *30* weeks pregnant!  I cant believe how fast this is all flying by!  As of today i have approximately 68 days left!  I am certainly enjoying feeling him move around and knowing what body part is pushing/kicking!  What i haven't been enjoying is the lack of sleep and the bags under my eyes, the constant back pain, and the huge swollen achy ankles!  But none of that seems so bad when he gets the hiccups and I just sit and giggle watching my belly go up and down!

The room is finally painted, thanks to Darlenes help!  His furniture is all put together and his bookshelf painted!  Pictures soon to come!  It looks like a baby room and it looks exactly how I pictured it would!

My friend Teresa took some maternity pictures of me last week and they turned out beautiful!  It was super cold but we had such a great time and went exploring!  We found some abandoned rail road tracks that made for some beautiful pictures!  Here are a few of them and more to come later after she gets some time after the holidays to edit!

7 Months and 1 weeks

Hello Friends!  I am super sorry for slacking in my updating but i have been a combination of busy/sleepy! I celebrated my 25th birthday, had my amazing shower with my wonderful family and friends in Indiana (Robin will be getting me pictures soon i hope), a tasty Thanksgiving, and then went to pick up my gifts in TN from my parents this weekend!  We are busy trying to get Austins room put together!  The room was a storage room so i have been organizing it and trying to find places for everything!  Soon paint will go on the walls!  We picked up his crib and changing table tonight and will be putting those together this week sometime!  YAY for things coming together!

I am in my THIRD trimester now!  Crazy!  I passed my glucose test (barely)!  Austin is measuring a week small but they said that is nothing to worry about!  I have gained a total of .... 17 pounds!  I never thought i would see those numbers on the scale haha!  I have been feeling great for the most part, some back pain here and there but not too bad for the most part thanks to my awesome Dr. Zitello shooting me up with lidocain! If the pain gets worse, since i am not in my third trimester i can get steroid injections ... apparently they help develop his lungs!  The one thing i am having issues with is my always swelling ankles and legs! Probably due to all of my leg surgeries i have had in the past!  Needless to say by the time I get off of work I am MORE than ready to get home and rest with my feet up!  Here is a picture of me at 27 weeks 6 days ... and one of the dogs loving on uncle Rob!  Oh and a few people have asked where we are registered at so i said i would put it on the blog...

21 Weeks and 5 days

Today was the day to go back to see if we could get a good picture of Austins spine!  And we did!  Everything looked great!  He was his normal active self!  We actually got to see him YAWN!  Seriously the cutest thing yet!  We also saw him sucking his thumb and you could see all 5 of his sweet little fingers! My friend Keri went with me since Clay could not go.  She brought her 5 week old baby Chase (Austins future playmate!)  He was an absolute angel the whole time!  Austins heart beat was a perfect 140 and my belly is measuring right at 22 weeks!  I go back in 4 weeks for my glucose test... lets hope i pass with flying colors!  I have officially gained 9lbs!  She said everything is going just how they like to see!  I will post the pictures of Austin tomorrow.... for now here is my growing belly!
The next pictures are from a couple weekends ago when Clay decided to tackle the boat and put all new foam under the flooring.  It was DISGUSTING and each panel weight about 30 pounds!  The boat is now a ton lighter!  He worked super hard and even had me help a little!
Lastly here is a picture from the State Fair!  I had the most incredible cheese frys EVER made and then devoured a delicious funnel cake!  Surprisingly when we left i was still hungry and my loving husband took me by Rushs for a hotdog (im obsessed).  We then got to stay with Rachel and Jerry and have a short visit!  We are very excited that they found out they are having a baby GIRL!
OH and i cant leave this ADORABLE sleeping baby donkey out!  I mean seriously how cute is he???

20 week bump!

Well the belly button is making its way to popping out!  Here we are at 20 weeks and 1 day :)
And this teddy bear was sitting in my chair at work Tuesday Morning after we found out he was a boy!

It's a BOY!!!

Monday October 4th was a VERY exciting day for the husband and I!  Clay took the entire day off and took the dogs to the vet and then treated them to a trip to the beach.  Lets just say... they were in heaven!  The rest of the day revolved around baby!  The ultrasound tech was wonderful and very patient with baby Austin.  He did not want to show his face at all!  He held atleast one of his fists up by his face the entire time!  Finally he revealed that sweet face just in time for her to snap a picture!  PRECIOUS!
haha this one looks like he is holding a rattle

this one you can see his fingers balled up in a fist!  It's the 4 dots in a row :)

The second obstacle the patient tech had to deal with was the fact that Austin would NOT uncross his ankles... with made it pretty difficult to see if he was a boy or not!  After lots of patience she finally was able to get a picture with the proof we were waiting for!  A BOY!  Austin Paul Hicks!!!
those sweet feet crossed!

Our third obstacle was as much as he was moving around we could not get him to give her a good picture of his spine!  So the Dr. asked if we would mind coming back in two weeks to see if we could get a good picture of the spine!  Seriously???  Did she even have to ask us?  I think not... i was so excited just knowing that on the 18th i get to see his precious face again!  Hopefully Clay will be able to go too!  We are so excited to start registering and getting ready for Austin to arrive!  I cant believe we are half way to holding him in our arms! We are truly blessed!

18 weeks

Hello friends!  I cant believe that one week from tomorrow *hopefully* baby will show itself and we will know if baby Clether is a girl or a boy!  YAY!  I have been feeling amazing!  I am pretty sure i have gained a few pounds now so that makes me happy!  This past week i started to feel Clether move more frequently and it always starts at 10:00 at night when i lay down to go to bed!  Hopefully this isnt a sign of whats to come haha!  Just last night i actually could feel baby move on the outside of my belly!  Seriously the coolest thing ever!  I am hoping that Clay will get to feel soon and get to enjoy that experience.  Here is a picture of my belly at 18 weeks and some cute things for baby Clether!
Adorable boots that Robert and Sharon gave us!  If its a boy we will rock these and if its a girl toss some pink it and rock them too!  Love them!
This adorable sweater came in the mail from my Aunt Brenda and Robin!  It's precious!
and the best for last.... this would be the first purchase Clay and I made for our baby Clether!  Hook em Horns!  Hopefully their offense improves soon! Saturday was one awful game for sure!

I hope every had a fantastic weekend!

16 weeks

I had an appointment on Monday the 13th, and got to take a peek at baby AGAIN!  The Dr. was checking out baby and said "oops" and i of course looked at her with crazy eyes... she then said baby has legs wide open... do you want to know what your having?  Being the great, fantastic wife i am, i said "no i have to wait for my husband"  So now we wont know until October 4th to find out what baby Clether is!  The Doctor said everything looked wonderful baby is growing perfectly however mommy isnt :(  My belly is the right size but i am 16 weeks and have gained ZERO weight.  Prescription for no weight gain = eat ice cream every night.  Hopefully that will help, but if i dont gain any weight before October 4th, we will have to discuss "other options".  I personally like the ice cream idea!  I will write more this week, i have some pictures to upload of some baby goodies!  But for now... here is two belly pics since i slacked last week!

Babybedding.com

Can i just take a moment and say .... www.babybedding.com ROCKS!  You can design your own bedding from all sorts of awesome fabric!  A friend told me about the site and even though we don't know what our bundle of joy will be yet.... it's designed! We are sticking to gender neutral "baby equipment"  so down the road if we decide to have another baby we wont have to re purchase everything. Here is baby Clethers crib set!

drum roll please........

Until next post friends.....

Thumb Sucker!

Thats right we have a thumb sucker on our hands!  I had my 13 week Dr. Appointment yesterday and the Doctor asked me if i wanted to take a look at the baby!  I of course got very excited and said lets do it!  An ultrasound was not in the plan for yesterday but i got the ultrasound room!  The only downer was Clay was not able to be there and the machine was ancient so no pictures!  It was the most amazing thing i had ever seen.  Baby Clether was sooooo active!  Baby was sucking its THUMB!  It was also waving saying "hi mommy!" along with some somersaults tossed in the mix.  Its amazing how the baby is moving so much and i cant feel it!  Dr. said I should start feeling baby in about 5 more weeks, *sigh* i cant wait!  Speaking of Doctor... i LOVE mine!  She is absolutely wonderful!

Baby Clethers heart beat was 154 yesterday, i of course was reading up on all the hype about the correlation with heartbeat and gender... not sure if i believe it however... i came across this one website that says "its a girl if" and well I have thought that baby Clether is a girl since the beginning... Clay still thinks its a boy... maybe this will change his mind....

It's a girl if:
  • You had morning sickness early in pregnancy YES
  • Your baby's heart rate is at least 140 beats per minute YES
  • You are carrying the weight in your hips and rear Too soon to tell!
  • Your left breast is larger than your right breast YES haha
  • Your hair develops red highlights YES however i have always had red in my hair!
  • You are carrying high Too soon to tell!
  • Your belly looks like a watermelon Too soon to tell!
  • You are craving sweets  YES just ask my coworkers!
  • You are craving fruit  YES cant get enough Watermellon and Strawberries!
  • You crave orange juice Umm not so much right now but i did have a lot of frozen OJ the first few weeks
  • You are moodier than usual during pregnancy  Haha that would be a question for the husband!
  • Your face breaks out more than usual  YES just bought some facewash last night!
  • You refuse to eat the heel of a loaf of bread YES  i never ever like the heels!

  • Of course i also went and looked at the Chinese calendar and it is telling me its a girl!  So i am sticking to thinking its a girl!  We could care less either way as long as its a happy healthy baby!

Baby Clether!

We are excited to announce that baby "Clether" will be here February 23rd, 2011.  I will be 13 weeks this week and I am showing already! I will be posting "bump" pictures as I progress throughout the pregnancy!  Hopefully this will be a great way to keep my family and friends that are out of town up to date with all things baby!    For those of you who havnt figured it out yet, "Clether" is the combination of Clay and Heather!  A special thanks to John Plowden who came up with that for us when we first started dating, so we thought it was perfect for the baby until we find out if we are having a girl or a boy!  I think it is a girl and Clay thinks its a boy.... What do you think????  Here are our first pictures of our precious "Clether"
